Greening Cities event
Bringing together urban greening professionals and researchers to transform urban landscapes
Wed 20th & Thu 21st April 2022, Burnley Campus, University of Melbourne
The Green Infrastructure Research Group and Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria are bringing Greening Cities to the beautiful Burnley campus this month. This is a great opportunity for industry professionals in horticulture, design, planning and policy to join with researchers to share knowledge and build on ideas and experiences for transforming urban landscapes. Workshops, presentations, research tours and industry displays will cover initiatives, challenges and opportunities in public and residential spaces and new ways to green the urban environment. A focus will be on the types of plants needed for resilient, functional and beautiful landscapes, and the skills, policies and community involvement needed to drive transformation forward.
GIRG researchers, students and University of Melbourne associates will be presenting on a range of topics including species selection for climate change, urban agriculture and stormwater for street trees. A dedicated green roof session will focus on outputs of a recently completed Hort Innovation project including green roof maintenance, design and plant palettes.
